Skills USA: Zilberman Moves On

Three Tully students competed in this year's Skills USA competition, all in different areas: Tim Zilberman in culinary, Ryan Bunaisky in carpentry, and Cassie Fisher in cosmetology. All worked hard at their craft with Zilberman placing 2nd in Baking and Pastry and Bunaisky placing 4th in Construction. Zilberman will continue on to State competition at the NY State Fairgrounds in April.

Zilberman (pictured above) had to do a number of tasks for the Skills USA competition including making blueberry muffins and sugar cookies from scratch, frosting a cake, and taking a written test on baking techniques. He will be attending Johnson and Wales in the Pastry Arts program in the fall of 2019.

Bunaisky (pictured above) also had to do a number of tasks for the Skills USA competition including building a 4' x 4' wall, butt up two rafters, and create a door and window rough opening. Upon graduating, he would like to gain more experience in residential development and eventually own his own construction company.

Fisher (pictured above) competed in the Quiz Bowl at Skills USA. She was on a team with students from Cortland and Homer. After graduating in 2020, she will have her cosmetology license and head to college for a business management degree, hoping to own a salon in the future.
