Each year, New York Agriculture in the Classroom selects a book to be read to 2nd graders across the state. This year, that book was "On the Farm, at the Market" by G. Brian Karas. Mrs. Green's Agriscience class from the high school took pleasure in visiting the elementary to read this informative book about how foods are brought to the market and bringing communities together. In addition to reading, Mrs. Green's students also had to plan an activity for the 2nd graders to follow the reading. In Mrs. Scully Smith's 2nd grade class, students created mini greenhouses with plastic cups and vegetable seeds. Ms. Saile's and Mrs. Fallon's class had a question and answer session with the 2nd graders asking about agriculture and farming. It was a great learning experience for all involved!
