This year, the Model UN team represented the United States at the National High School Model UN (NHSMUN) conference, which was a huge responsibility and accomplishment for Tully. Tully had thirteen students attend and they were assigned various committee topics including: The Commission on the Status of Women, International Atomic Energy Agency, The Disarmament and Security Committee, among others. Although Tully did not win any formal awards, the director of NHSMUN reached out to Mr. O'Neill after the conference and stated he was very impressed by Tully's students and noted that Tully was within one percentage point of winning a delegate award, which for a three-year-old program is very impressive.
Although the students had limited time in the city, they went to Central Park, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Times Square, and Hell's Kitchen (for NYC food!). At the closing ceremonies, students got to hear a speech from former Secretary of Defense, Chuck Hagel, about the importance of global partnership and the role of the United Nations.
