Wellness Day 2021
Wellness Day for both the Elementary and the JSHS was a much needed and highly anticipated day, with students and teachers enjoying the activities that were planned by Tully’s Wellness Committee members, student teachers, and staff. Elementary students enjoyed an entire day’s rotation with sidewalk chalk, bubbles, deep breathing, games, healthy eating, and creating a compliment bucket. They also made stress balls and paper plate kites, and they were sure to include a dance party and some yoga to get some energy flowing. Kids could be seen enjoying their time with their friends and the sunshine throughout the entire day – something that the adults on campus were happy to see. Even the remote students were able to participate as teachers dropped off supplies and enjoyed time with them. At the JSHS, students came into a lobby full of music, healthy grab-n-go snacks, and resources that they could take with them. Their daily schedule was shortened so they could enjoy an hour at the end of the day doing the activity that they signed up for the week before, but teachers did an amazing job incorporating music or crafty activities into their lessons for the day to make it a true Wellness Day. In addition, lunchtime was full of music, sidewalk chalk, and a 3-point challenge after the students enjoyed a build-your-own salad, yogurt parfaits, hummus, and other healthy treats. Mr. Paccia and Ms. Paccia created a fun video message for students (see below) before the activities began, which was a treat in itself. Students then went to their chosen activity; some enjoyed a quiet classroom having tea time, playing games, reading, knitting, making art, having a spa day, or coloring. Others participated in guitar lessons, creating a short film, or salsa dancing. Many could be seen outside playing a variety of sports, making corsages or tie-dye shirts, or taking a nature walk. What a wonderful day for everyone! Special thanks goes out to all those who took time to plan and organize the day to be so successful – Tully CSD appreciates you!
