Two Earn NYS Seal of Biliteracy

Becoming proficient in your native language is to be expected but to become proficient in a second language by the time you finish high school is an amazing accomplishment that not everyone can claim. In fact, less than 5% of graduating seniors earn this honor. This year, Kellen McCasland and Jason Weng took their World Language presentations to BOCES in late April; Kellen in Spanish and Jason in Mandarin. Both students were then notified that they had been successful and would be awarded the NYS Seal of Biliteracy. At graduation, their diplomas will bear a special seal and they will don a medallion with their traditional graduation garb. In addition to the honor, both students now have extra opportunities through colleges and places of employment. Kudos to these young gentlemen! A world awaits you!
