Athletic Field Named after Hart
The Tully community came together on May 9 for an evening celebration of Larry Hart, former Tully coach and Greater Syracuse Sports Hall of Fame member. Tully alumni, staff, community members, friends, and family gathered to witness the proclamation of the newly named Larry Hart Field. Hart wore many hats while employed at Tully CSD including, teacher, coach, assistant principal, and athletic director. He also founded the Tully Boys Lacrosse program in 1969 and the Tully Girls Track program in 1975. He helped put Tully girls’ athletics on the map when he won Tully’s first League and Section III Championships in Girls Soccer, Girls Basketball, and Girls Track. In addition, he won championships in five different sports and earned a record of 257-32-6 while coaching Girls Varsity Soccer. He mentored countless young athletes, students, and colleagues alike, and treated all with respect regardless of skill or ability. The ceremony concluded with the first-played girls and boys home lacrosse games on the Larry Hart Field.
