Tully FIRST team in the news!

Get a feel for FIRST

LEGO League and Junior LEGO League are alive and well in Tully!

Teams forming now for the 2013 Season!

Teams will work hard this fall to identify ways to make our communities safer in the event of natural disasters.

Junior FIRST LEGO League's theme is Disaster Blaster: Prepare, Respond, Recover.

FIRST LEGO League's theme is Nature's Fury: Prepare, Stay Safe, Rebuild.

2012 LEGO League Challenge was a success!

Participants in the 2012 season  "...explored the topic of aging and how it may affect a person’s ability to maintain his or her lifestyle – solving issues like getting around, keeping in touch, or staying fit. Teams researched obstacles and then suggested ways to improve the quality of life for the seniors affected" in an entertaining and informative presentation to a panel of judges. "FLL teams also built, tested, and programmed an autonomous robot using LEGO MINDSTORMS® robot to solve a set of missions on an obstacle course." Jr. FLL teams "...learned about simple machines as they built a model made of LEGO® elements with a motorized moving part and created a team Show Me Poster to represent their findings."

We were very proud to bring home the Presentation Award and the Mechanical Design Award from the Regional Championship this year. Job well done, everyone!

FIRST's Core Values set it apart from other competitions.
  • We are a team.
  • We do the work to find solutions with guidance from our coaches and mentors.
  • We know our coaches and mentors don't have all the answers; we learn together.
  • We honor the spirit of friendly competition.
  • What we discover is more important than what we win.
  • We share our experiences with others.
  • We display Gracious Professionalism® and Coopertition® in everything we do.
  • We have FUN!

Gracious Professionalism®

"Gracious Professionalism a way of doing things that encourages high-quality work, emphasizes the value of others, and respects individuals and the community... fierce competition and mutual gain are not separate notions. Gracious professionals learn and compete like crazy, but treat one another with respect and kindness in the process... In the long run, Gracious Professionalism is part of pursuing a meaningful life. One can add to society and enjoy the satisfaction of knowing one has acted with integrity and sensitivity."

"Coopertition® produces innovation... Coopertition is displaying unqualified kindness and respect in the face of fierce competition. Coopertition is... a philosophy that teams can and should help and cooperate with each other even as they compete... learning from teammates... teaching teammates... learning from Mentors... managing and being managed. Coopertition means competing always, but assisting and enabling others when you can."
